Year 12 Students Learn with the Lords

On Friday 10th October, a group of our Year 12 students at Beauchamp City Sixth Form had the unique opportunity to take part in a special visit from Lord Mann of Holbeck Moor, as part of the Learn with the Lords in School programme.

The two-hour session gave students interested in law, politics and public policy the chance to hear directly from a member of the House of Lords. After a short meet and greet, Lord Mann delivered a thought-provoking presentation followed by an open Q&A, where students asked questions about government, legislation and the role of the Lords in shaping national policy.

The visit was designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding of how decisions are made at the highest level. Students were encouraged to think critically, engage with real-world issues and consider how they might contribute to public life in the future.

We were proud to host the event, which forms part of our wider commitment to preparing students for ambitious futures. Opportunities like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and the world beyond, giving students a clearer view of the pathways available to them.

We’d like to thank Lord Mann for his time and insight, and our students for their thoughtful contributions.
