Local MP visits Beauchamp City

Recently, we had the honour of welcoming our local Member of Parliament (MP) Shockat Adam Beauchamp City.

Associate Principal Catherine Bartholomew warmly welcomed Shockat and guided him on a tour of the state-of-the-art school building. As they walked through the modern facilities, Shockat marveled at the stunning learning environment and the wealth of resources available to students.

The highlight of the visit was an engaging session with a group of sixth form students. Armed with pre-prepared questions, the students eagerly quizzed Shockat about his busy and often unpredictable daily schedule, the challenges of balancing his responsibilities as an MP, and his research methods. They also delved into topics such as the need for modernised library funding and Shockat's efforts to challenge the government from the Left.

Shockat shared valuable advice with students interested in politics, encouraging them to get involved with the European Youth Parliament and to volunteer with their local MP. His insights and experiences provided a fascinating glimpse into the world of politics and public service.

Executive Principal James McKenna expressed his gratitude for the visit, saying: "We really enjoyed the opportunity to meet our local MP, Shockat Adam, today and to share with him the exemplary work we do at  Beauchamp City Sixth Form.

"It was a privilege for our students to hear first-hand how democracy works in action and how a local representative can contribute to driving forward change at a national level.

"Today's visit has been very well received by students and has supported us in our mission to inspire and empower our young people so that they can make good choices about their future."

Reflecting on his visit, Shockat Adam MP said: "It was fantastic to visit Sir Jonathan North and Beauchamp City and meet the students and staff. I was able to see first-hand the opportunities available for young people and discuss the challenges faced by schools and educational institutions. Thank you to everyone who made my visit possible."

The visit left a lasting impression on both students and staff, inspiring them to think critically about their roles in shaping the future and the importance of civic engagement.
